DAY IN THE LIFE

POSTER  A1

POSTER  A1

As we go about our daily lives, we each apply a rationale to the management of its various parts. There is a degree of structure and certain predictability attached to one’s typical day. We tend to take much of each day for granted; it is habitual, a metronomic-like routine performed without undue thought or fuss.

For this poster I documented all of my personal interactions throughout the month. I then produced a primarily visual representation of a typical month in my life intended as both a provocative self-portrait and serious illustration the viewer can study, understand and enjoy. The driving question of the project was how do I interact with the world; digitally or physically.

ROCKWELL BARBELL PORTRAIT

My challenge for this poster was to explore the relationship between visual syntax and symbolic meaning by manipulating, integrating and organizing a variety of material to construct a telling and provocative “portrait” of Rockwell Barbell Gym. Rockwell is a unique powerlifting gym in the city of Chicago that does not offer customers to buy a membership, but rather you must be invited based on skill and knowledge. This portrait identifies and amplifies the gym’s unique characteristics and qualities. I photographed the gym throughout the day to capture the unique ambiance of Rockwell Barbell. I viewed the photographic data I collected as a visual documentary/research process essential to my portrait’s success in investigating the power of pictorial symbolism and its ability to communicate ideas.

1980 OLYMPIC POSTER

OlympicPoster_04.jpg

Looking at the 1980s Lake Placid Winter Olympic logo, I created a poster with enticing imagery and information about the sports that built upon the style of the logo . I manipulated and abstracted the logo to create something unrecognizable to be used as the main image.

ARTIST LECTURE POSTER

posterarp2.jpg

This poster was created to advertise an artist lecture series featuring works from Jean Hans Arp. Using his sculpture "Growth" as the graphic for this poster I highlighted the lines created in this piece with font. Then paired this with calming colors to accent the warmth of the texture from the work.
